TAMUK will face Western New Mexico Thursday, ahead of a Saturday matchup with Eastern New Mexico

KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team will hit the road for a pair of Lone Star Conference matchups against Western New Mexico on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT in Silver City, New Mexico, ahead of a Saturday contest in Portales, New Mexico with Eastern New Mexico at 2 p.m. CT.

The Javelinas (8-8, 5-5 LSC) took down UT Tyler 61-46 last time out after falling to No. 12/8 Texas Woman's 79-50. Freshman Shelby Ray paced TAMUK offensively in a weekend that saw them take on two teams at the top of the Eastern Division. First, the Lexington, Texas native scored 11 while sinking two triples against TWU before leading the squad against UTT with 13 points and six rebounds. She shot 57.1% from the field across the contests, including 60% from beyond the arc.

Sophomore Mia Rivers also played a significant role, averaging 7.0 PPG while dishing out seven assists and hauling in 12 rebounds. Additionally, Rivers represents the top passer in the LSC, as her 5.1 APG sits atop the league leader board and ranks 16th in the nation.

The Mustangs (4-10, 2-8 LSC) are on a three-game skid after dropping contests with Cameron, West Texas A&M, and Lubbock Christian. They maintain a 3-3 record at Drag's Court and have two athletes averaging double-digit scoring figures in Diamond Moore and Sydney Wright. Moore also serves as the squad's leading rebounder with 7.5 RPG. As a whole, WNMU averages 40.6 rebounds a game and holds the second-best rebounding margin in the LSC.

Meanwhile, the Greyhounds (7-8, 4-6 LSC) fell to Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M last week, averaging 55 points in the pair of losses. Deja Anderson has been a standout performer for ENMU, ranking inside the conference's top-five in several statistical categories, including shooting and free throw percentages. She averages 16.9 PPG and 7.1 RPG while providing 23 assists, 20 steals, and four blocks.
