JAVELINAS BEGIN YEAR THREE UNDER COACH MIKE SALINAS
The Javelinas are looking to build on last season's 5-5 winning season which marked the first for the program since 2016.
Head coach,
Mike Salinas looks to improve on that mark on the backs of a veteran offensive line anchored by captain
Troy Billman. From there, the Javelinas will look to their tandem of talented running backs in returner
Christian Anderson and graduate transfer
Toneil Carter. Originally from Houston Texas, Carter appeared in 10 games in 2019 for Sam Houston State, averaging 6.5 yards per carry and scoring 3 TDs.
On the defensive side of the ball, captains
Amos Coleman and
Ezrah Thibodeaux look to anchor a turnover hungry defense that forced 17 in 2021.
The Javelinas come into the season picked to finish sixth in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll.
"We want to go out and play clean in all three phases," Salinas said ahead of tomorrow's game. "Our focus has been on execution and being more consistent this offseason. Our goal is to go out and play with a level of toughness, discipline, and effort that is unmatched."
