GREENSBORO, N.C. (ABCA)- The American Baseball Coaches Association partnered with Rawlings to release its 2022 NCAA Division II All-Region teams on Wednesday, with seniors
Giancarlo Servin (Edinburg, Texas) and
Brandon Symmank (Cypress, Texas) representing Texas A&M-Kingsville on the list.
Servin was listed First-Team All-South Central Region at the second base, after starting all 49 games for the Javelinas. He paved the way in his farewell season to the tune of 13 home runs, 70 hits, 123 total bases, and 54 RBIs. Additionally, he recorded a .365 batting average which, combined with a .641 slugging percentage, resulted in an OPS of 1.079.
Defensively, he helped turn 13 Blue and Gold double plays, while logging 60 putouts and 95 assists. On the year, Servin has now been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association All-Region teams, as well as the D2CCA Third-Team All-America squad.
Symmank checks in on the All-Region Second-Team, as a pitcher after a stellar year on the bump in which he maintained a 3.54 ERA to go along with 67 strikeouts and six wins. He totaled 56.0 innings on the season while holding opposing hitters to a measly .210 batting average. He recorded one save on the season, spending the bulk of the season as the Javelinas Sunday starter, toeing the slab at the beginning of 11 games.
The Cypress native also was recognized by the Lone Star Conference, cracking the league's Second-Team while also being selected for the D2CCA All-Region Second-Team.
Servin and Symmank helped the Javelinas reach 33 wins as well as an NCAA South Central Regional Tournament berth in what represented each student-athletes final season in Blue and Gold.
As a result of making the First-Team, Servin is now under consideration for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Americans will be announced on Friday, June 3. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners for all divisions will be announced Wednesday, June 22.
