BATON ROUGE, La. – Despite a pair of wins in the No. 4 flight for the tandem of freshman Madelyn Wallace (La Vernia, Texas) and sophomore Rylie Anderson (Justin, Texas), the Texas A&M-Kingsville beach volleyball team was defeated by the UAB Dragons, 3-2, and by the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.
These two losses put TAMUK's overall record at 4-5.

Wallace and Anderson triumphed in straight sets against the Dragons, needing extra points in the first frame before taking it by two, then winning the second by eight for a final of 22-20, 21-13. The Javs' No. 3 pairing of freshman Ayanna Jackson (San Antonio, Texas) and senior Roxanne Morris (Goliad, Texas) also came out on top, staging a comeback after the opening set went to UAB. Morris and Jackson took the second stanza by a pair, then outfought their competition in the third for a 16-21, 21-19, 15-11 final.
UAB won the first flight 21-15, 21-10, took the second 21-9, 21-16 and clinched the match by winning the No. 5 match 21-17, 21-10.
TAMUK vs. Southern Miss.
Anderson and Wallace went to work again at No. 4 against the Golden Eagles and took down their foes, 21-13, 21-16. These two Sunday victories give Anderson and Wallace a 3-2 record during TAMUK's time in Louisiana.
The Javelinas also nearly snagged the No. 1 match, where seniors Tenley Housler (Bulverde, Texas) and Macie Satterwhite (Callisburg, Texas) took on Breleigh Favre and Kellie Garraway. The first set went to Housler and Satterwhite, 21-17, but after a close second frame went against them, USM's No. 1's controlled the third to win 17-21, 22-20, 15-8.
The Golden Eagles collected the second flight, 21-14, 21-18, the third, 21-19, 21-16 and the fifth, 21-16, 21-17.
