BATON ROUGE, La. – The Texas A&M-Kingsville beach volleyball team squared off against two of the best beach volleyball teams in nation on Saturday in the Tulane Green Wave and the No. 4 LSU Tigers at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., and ended the day on the short end of a pair of 5-0 scores.
TAMUK now owns a 4-3 record in 2022.
TAMUK vs. Tulane
The Green Wave won each flight against the Javelinas in straight sets, taking the first by a 21-8, 21-15 score and the second with a 21-14, 21-12 final. Tulane's Samantha Mehlman and Lara Torruella won the third flight, 21-14, 21-10.
The closest the Javs came to snatching a set was in the fourth flight, where freshman Madelyn Wallace (La Vernia, Texas) and sophomore Rylie Anderson (Justin, Texas) went up against Savka Popovic and Haley Gibson, but Tulane's tandem triumphed 21-17, 21-11. The No. 5 match finished with a 21-11, 21-15 final.
TAMUK vs. LSU
Against the Tigers, TAMUK's No. 1 pair of seniors Tenley Houser (Bulverde, Texas) and Macie Satterwhite (Callisburg, Texas) went toe-to-toe with LSU's Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope and Belle Bauman and Housler and Satterwhite took the first set, 21-19. Unfortunately, the next two frames went to the Tigers by scores of 21-10 and 15-8.
LSU came out on top in the second flight, 21-15, 21-12, and took the third, 21-12, 21-17. The No. 4 contest finished 21-6, 21-16 and No. 5 ended 21-6, 21-13.
