PHOENIX – The Texas A&M-Kingsville beach volleyball team scored its third clean sweep of the season and its second straight on Saturday afternoon by taking down the Abilene Christian Wildcats, 5-0, at the GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium in Phoenix.
Back-to-back victories puts the Javelinas' record at an even 6-6 through 12 matches.
TAMUK won every match but one in straight sets, starting with seniors Macie Satterwhite (Callisburg, Texas) and Tenley Housler (Bulverde, Texas), who swept their opponent in the No. 1 flights. Senior Roxanne Morris (Goliad, Texas) and freshman Ayanna Jackson (San Antonio, Texas) followed suit with another 2-0 triumph at No. 2.
Freshman Madelyn Wallace (La Vernia, Texas) and sophomore Rylie Anderson (Justin, Texas) notched their fourth win in their last five tries by a 2-0 score in the third flight and seniors Kapri Pelle (Auburn, Calif.) and Christina Gragasin (Celina, Texas) wrapped up one more sweep in the fifth flight. The No. 4 match was the only one that required a third set, but junior Lexi Ahrens (Virginia, Minn.) and sophomore Adrienne van Brunt (Corpus Christi, Texas) took the final frame to secure a 5-0 final.
On March 22nd, the Javelinas will return to the Javelina Beach Courts for two matches, one against Mary Hardin Baylor at 1 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. rematch with ACU.
