Volleyball continues LSC play on the road at Angelo State and UTPB this weekend

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Javelina Volleyball will head on the road this weekend first facing Angelo State at 7 p.m. on Friday before taking on UT Permian Basin on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
The Javelinas (14-8, LSC 6-3) go into the weekend sitting seventh in the Lone Star Conference after defeating St. Edward's in their last match 3-0.
 
TAMUK continues to lead the Lone Star Conference in digs per set with 18.20 which is good for ninth in all of Division II. The Javelinas also lead the LSC in team assists while sitting second in assists per set.
 
Libero Nicole Murff, is currently leading the conference in total digs with 433 and digs per set with a mark of 5.41. Ayanna Jackson also leads the LSC in hitting percentage, hitting .369 so far this season.
 
Angelo State (11-11, LSC 7-3) sits one place above the Javelinas in the LSC standings in a tie for fifth place with UT Tyler. The Belles' offense features three attackers with 150 or more kills on the season, led by Sydney Mundkowksy's 176 kills. Hannah Kinnison (172) and Kaila Garnett (156) follow closely behind the Gatesville native. Setters Laney Dale and Kayla Baer are averaging over five assists per set, with the pair also combining for 27 service aces this season. Defensively, Caleigh Enax ranks in the top ten in the conference in digs with 341 this season. The sophomore is eighth in digs per set with 4.37 per frame. Additionally, the Haslet native leads the team with 26 service aces this season.
 
UTPB (11-10, LSC 6-4), currently sits one spot below the Javelinas at eighth in the standings. The Javelinas will have tough test on the road as the Falcons have been difficult to beat at home, posting a 6-2 record at home while only going 5-8 in all other contests. The Falcons' Daylee Doggett has been strong as a server this season, currently sitting second in aces per set with 0.45. As a team, the Falcons are also second in team services aces with 140 on the season.
