Meet the JavAlumni: Taylor Taska

Taska played baseball at TAMUK from 2010-14

Taylor Taska played multiple pivotal roles for the Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball program from 2010 to 2014. He crafted an effort on the mound that featured nine saves in the 2010 campaign while his efforts at the plate across all four years landed him fourth all-time in hits, second in doubles, third in home runs and second in RBI. He was rewarded with the 2013 Lone Star Conference Co-Player of the Year, NCBWA South Central Region Player of the Year and a Daktronics First Team All-America bid.

Today Taska took time to catch up with Javelina Nation about his life beyond baseball and TAMUK.

Why did you choose to attend Texas A&M-Kingsville?

I chose Kingsville based on a few factors. I was very comfortable with the coaches and the opportunity they were going to be able to provide me.

What is your favorite Javelina memory?

My favorite memory would be the back-to-back championships that we were able to win in 2013 and 2014. Both seasons were a testament to the hard work we put in over the years as a team.

What have you been up to since you left Kingsville?

After school, I moved back to Houston and currently live downtown. For years I worked for Enterprise and ran the South Houston accounting office. Since then, I have taken on more consulting roles and worked with our leasing division in client relations.

What is something most people don't know about you?

I was recently named the Player of the Decade for TAMUK and am honored to have been able to win this award.

Do you still keep in contact with your teammates?

I do still try to keep in contact with as many as I can. We have a running fantasy football league that many of us play in yearly to continue to stay in contact.

How has your time as a Javelina prepared you for life after college?

My time in Kingsville helped prepare my work ethic and discipline to be where I'm at today. Both my coaches and teammates taught me lessons that I still carry with me to this day.

What advice do you have for current Javelinas?

The best advice I could give would be to enjoy your time in Kingsville and don't take any of it for granted. Anytime you have an opportunity, make sure to take full advantage.
