KINGSVILLE, Texas - Ryan Smith was named the Sports Information Graduate Assistant for Texas A&M-Kingsville athletic department on Tuesday. Smith joins the staff after spending the last four years as an intern helping with the day-to-day duties of the sports information office.
A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Smith will handle primary responsibilities with the TAMUK cross country, track and field, and women's golf programs beginning with the 2021-22 academic year. His four years working as an intern featured time spent assisting the sports information office with coverage of the 2018 Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C., and the 2018 Division II Baseball Championships in Cary, N.C.
Smith also assisted with the 2019 Javelina softball program's run through the Lone Star Conference and the South Central Regional and Super Regional brackets, as well as the 2019 Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium.
Smith graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology in May 2021, and will pursue his Master of Science degree in kinesiology at TAMUK.
