Steve Roach and Hanna Lantz to serve on NCAA Division II committees

Roach appointed to Implementation Committee; Lantz appointed to International Student Records Committee

INDIANAPOLIS (NCAA/TAMUK) – The Texas A&M-Kingsville athletic department had two administrators appointed to two separate NCAA Division II committees this week.

Executive Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Steve Roach was appointed to the Implementation Committee by the Division II Administrative Committee, while Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics / Senior Woman Administrator Hanna Lantz was appointed to the International Student Records Committee.

The Division II Administrative Committee met this week and appointed 28 voting members to serve on the Implementation Committee with Roach as the representative from the Lone Star Conference. The Implementation Committee will be charged with leading the division's work following the Association-wide vote on a new constitution at the 2022 NCAA Convention on January 20 in Indianapolis.

"I am grateful to have been selected for this opportunity," said Roach, "and I look forward to representing Texas A&M-Kingsville and the Lone Star Conference on this committee that will enhance Division II and the student-athlete experience."

The committee, co-chaired by Wisconsin-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford and Delta State President William LaForge, will review the division's rules and policies and make recommendations to ensure that changes are consistent with the principles agreed upon in the new constitution. The committee will also communicate with and gather feedback from the Division II membership, provide regular updates to the Division II Management Council and Division II Presidents Council, and work with Division I and Division III as needed.

The committee includes one representative from all 23 Division II conference and five current and former student-athletes. Division II Presidents Council Chair and Minot State President Steven Shirley will serve as a non-voting ex-officio member. Former California University of Pennsylvania volleyball student-athlete Madeleine McKenna, a member of the Constitution Committee, will be one of the five student-athlete representatives. The other four will be national Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members will be determined at the NCAA Convention in January.

The International Student Records Committee, consisting of six members, including two Division I representatives, two Division II representatives and two representatives from either Division I or Division II, provides knowledge and expertise regarding international educational systems to establish supplemental initial-eligibility policies and procedures.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to serve our NCAA membership as I continue to grow my knowledge of international educational systems as it impacts our student-athletes in the area of initial-eligibility."

Lantz will begin serving her term on the International Student Records Committee immediately through August 2024.
