Javelinas set for clash with No. 21 Rambelles

Tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, December 6

The Matchup
• The Javelinas will look to rebound from a slow opening to the Lone Star Conference schedule with a road contest against No. 21 Angelo State on Thursday, December 6, in San Angelo, Texas
• TAMUK dropped the first two conference games of the year, both on the road, with a 60-44 loss at the hands of No. RV Tarleton followed by an 87-38 defeat to A&M-Commerce
• Brynae Thompson and Cloe Lane are the two Javelinas to post double digit scoring figures on the year with Thompson averaging 12.1 ppg with Lane right behind her at 10.0 ppg
• Thompson leads all TAMUK players with a 44.0 shooting clip on 26.1 minutes per game
• Lane and fellow newcomer Rachel Tapps lead the way with 10 and 11 assists, respectively, while Lane has 11 steals on the year
• Nicole Hutchins and Lane are both leaders of the SWAT team as Hutchins owns eight blocks while Lane has six
• Angelo State is 4-0 on the year after defeating TAMUC and TSU on the road last week, 70-64 and 75-64, respectively
• 2018-19 LSC Preseason Player of the Year Marquita Daniels leads the team with a 19.5 scoring average on 38.6% shooting, followed by 14.5 points from De'Anira Moore and 12.8 points from Dezirae Hampton
• Maria Delgado adds a 9.8 scoring average with a 7.8 rebounding average, while Daniels owns 19 assists

Last Time Out
• The Javelinas fell to No. RV Tarleton, 60-44, before ending up on the backend of an 87-38 decision to A&M-Commerce to start the Lone Star Conference schedule
• Cloe Lane led all scorers in the TSU matchup with 19 points on a 7-for-15 clip from the filed, adding four rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block
• Rachel Tapps and Bri-Anna Soliz both added three steals, while Tapps led with six rebounds
• Brynae Thompson was the lone Javelina to reach double figures against TAMUC as she tallied 11 on 4-for-13 from the field
• Soliz added six rebounds  while Tapps had five steals

• Sophomore transfer Nicole Hutchins extended her blocked shots streak to seven games to start the year, ending with one each in the games against Tarleton and A&M-Commerce
• The Berowra, Australia, native is currently sixth in the conference with eight blocked shots, 104th in the nation
• She is also seventh in the LSC in blocked shots per game at 1.14
 
First Strike
• The Javelinas have scored first in six of the first seven contests
• A&M-Commerce ended the streak with the opening bucket on Dec. 1
• Thompson has struck first for the Blue and Gold in four games, including the first three of the year
• Lane recorded the first basket in the two other contests where TAMUK scored first
• Hutchins tallied the first points for the Javelinas in the loss to TAMUC
 
At the Midpoint
• In the two TAMUK wins, the Javelinas were leading at half, including a 25-18 cushion over Chadron State and 44-34 over TAMIU
• The Blue and Gold have trailed at half in the five losses
 
The Final Countdown
• Only one contest has been decided by fewer than 10 points this year, a 48-40 TAMUK loss to then-No. 22 Black Hills State
• Every other Javelina matchup has been decided by 10+ points
