Mouton, Lane take final IBC Bank Players of the Week for 2018

Mouton finished with 16 points on a .500 clip; Lane added 11 points, nine rebounds and seven steals in win over TAMIU

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The final iteration of 2018 for the IBC Bank Players of the Week featured both Texas A&M-Kingsville basketball programs, as junior John Mouton (Missouri City, Texas) and senior Cloe Lane (Kansas City, Mo.) took home the honors after turning in strong performances on the hardwood the previous week.

For the Javelina men's basketball program, Mouton put away 16 points on a 5-for-10 mark from the floor in a 65-52 loss to St. Mary's (TX) on Wednesday, December 19, to provide the final say on the court for the Hogs to wrap up the 2018 portion of the campaign.

The Missouri City, Texas, native added six rebounds and one assist and he led all members of the Blue and Gold in scoring while coming off the bench. For the year, Mouton is averaging 6.3 points per outing on a .338 pace, coupled with three rebounds per game alongside eight steals and seven assists.

For the TAMUK women's basketball program, Lane was involved in all aspects of a 90-67 win over Texas A&M International as she put away 11 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and five assists in the contest. The seven steals were the most in a single game by a Javelina in nearly 15 years dating back to the 2004-05 season, and the 90 points are the most in a Blue and Gold win since Nov. 30, 2013 when TAMUK bested TAMIU in double overtime at 92-86.

On the year, Lane is averaging nine points per contest on 27.8 minutes played, and is adding 5.6 rebounds while totaling 18 steals, 15 assists and seven blocks.

The men's program is off for the next week and will return to action on January 5 to take on Angelo State in Lone Star Conference play. The women will take on UTSA on December 30, in an exhibition contest in San Antonio before taking on St. Mary's on January 2 to close out the non-conference portion of the 2018-19 schedule.
