KINGSVILLE, Texas – With the basketball season in full swing, senior Robert Stevenson (Houston, Texas) and junior Brynae Thompson (Houston, Texas) both took home the 13th version of the IBC Bank Player of the Week awards for their performances on the hardwood for Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's hoops.

Stevenson grabbed his first honor of the year after putting together seven points on 3-for-6 shooting for the floor as he added nine rebounds, five on offense and four on defense, one assist, one block and one steal in a 60-55 loss to St. Mary's (TX) the previous week.

On the season, the Houston native is averaging 5.0 points on .500 shooting from the floor, along with 6.8 rebounds through the first four games of the year, including Tuesday's win over Texas A&M International. The Javelina men are 2-2 on the year with wins over TAMIU and Chadron State, coupled with losses to South Dakota Mines and StMU.

For the women's program, Thompson has been the leading scorer in the past three contests, tallying 13, 17 and 24 against the Eagles, the Rattlers and the Dustdevils, respectively. Against St. Mary's (TX), Thompson put away 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting, and added three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

On the year, Thompson leads the team with a 15.5 scoring average on a .500 mark to go with a 3.3 rebounding average through the first four games to lead the Javelina women to a 2-2 mark behind wins against Chadron State and TAMIU to go with losses to StMU and No. 22 Black Hills State.

The basketball programs are back in action this Saturday, November 24, with a doubleheader against St. Edward's with the women's tipoff at 2 p.m. CT, while the men will get started at 4 p.m. CT.
