KEARNEY, Neb. – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-3) gets back in the win column by handling Western State Colorado University (0-6) and Northwestern Oklahoma State University (5-2) in straight sets to start the New Victorian Inn & Suites/ Runza Fall Classic. Â
Â
The Javelinas had their way on Friday as they recorded a hitting percentage of .261 and held their opponents to a .093 attack percentage. The Blue and Gold averaged 12.7 assists per set and 16.0 digs per set in the two matches.Â
Â
Lexi Wick paced the Javs with a .455 hitting percentage, averaging 2.67 kills per set (16 kills) and aced the opponents five times. Gathering 16 kills and 2.67 kills per set as well was
Krystal Faison, who also added two aces. Faison stood out defensively tying

Casey Klobedans averaged 11.40 assists per set, had five kills, and one block, while

Â
Texas A&M-Kingsville dominated Western State throughout the entire match. After a comfortable 25-18 opening set victory, the Javs had to earn the second set, down 10-6 early. However, an 8-1 run gave the Javelinas a lead that they would not relinquish again, taking the second set 25-20. From that moment on, it was all Hoggies as they ran away with the third set 25-14 to complete the sweep. Brabham led the team with 11 kills followed by Faison's seven, Hutchinson's six and Atchley's five. Â
Â
Northwestern Oklahoma State caught the remainder of the Hogs fury as they too were swept for the second consecutive match. Much like the match against WSC, the Javs had their work cut out for them in the second frame. In a back-and-forth set, Wick took over, finishing with five kills in the 25-23 win. The Rangers gave everything they had in the second but the Hogs kept the intensity high in the third to win the set 25-17. After being under wraps in the first match, Wick responded with a match-high 13 kills and three aces. Faison was just short of a double-double with nine kills and 13 digs and Hutchinson tallied eight kills and team-high of three blocks. Â
