Faison and Brabham Leads Hogs in Doubleheader

Texas A&M-Kingsville concludes its ten-match road trip this weekend in Nebraska

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (3-3) was swept for the first time this season at the hands of nationally ranked #9 Augustana University (4-1) at Elmen Center on Saturday night.

The Javelinas had a tough time working around the Vikings defenders, being held to a .009 hitting percentage. The Vikings had 11.5 total blocks in the match including four solos.

In the nightcap, Krystal Faison and Gabby Atchley led the Hoggies with six kills each, followed by Haley Hutchinson, Madison Brabham, and Lexi Wick who each had three kills. Wick led the team with four blocks and Kelby Sprinkles had a team-high of 17 digs to go along with one service ace.

On the day, Faison totaled a team-best 24 kills and four aces and Brabham recorded 22 kills including a career-high 19 in a single match.

Set 1
The nationally ranked Vikings led wire-to-wire in the first set. Gabby Atchley paced the Javs with three kills in the 25-17 loss.

Set 2
Hutchinson put TAMUK on the board first with a strike down the middle after a long rally, giving the visiting club some energy. However, the Augies slowly began to pull away and with a 12-9 lead, AU scored four straight to regain the momentum. The Vikings went on to win the second set 25-18.

Set 3
Augustana kept the pressure on Texas A&M-Kingsville with a 4-0 lead before Atchley found the floor for the team's first point. Later in the set, the Vikings utilized an 8-1 run to gain a 22-11 advantage and won the set 25-16.

Texas A&M-Kingsville will stay on the road and head to Nebraska to participate in the New Victorian Inn & Suite Runza Fall Classic, hosted by #5 Nebraska-Kearney.
