KINGSVILLE, Texas – Another hotly contested match took place Saturday afternoon at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center where Texas A&M University-Kingsville (10-7, 3-3 LSC) fell in five sets to No. 15 Tarleton State University (13-4, 5-1 LSC).
For the second consecutive day, the Javelinas played tough, going the distance with a nationally ranked club where they barely escaped the agony of an upset. The home team dominated offensively with a .242 clip and was led by four players with over ten kills.
Krystal Faison turned in her second double-double in as many matches with 13 kills and 16 digs and one service ace.
Madison Brabham matched the senior with 13 kills of her own and chipped in two blocks. Junior middle
Haley Hutchinson recorded 11 kills and two solo blocks in the match, while
Lexi Wick logged ten kills, two aces, and two blocks. Setter
Casey Klobedans dished out 36 assists and
Jade De La Rosa turned in a career-high 20 assists to help direct the offense.
Jasmine Jacinto led all players with 27 digs.
Hailey Roberts concluded with a match-high 21 kills and registered one ace. Adriana Darthuy finished with 16 kills and both Amber Strange and Alexis Applewhite recorded 12 kills.
Texas A&M-Kingsville will have a full week to prepare for its road matches against UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M on October 6-7, respectively.
