SAN ANGELO, Texas – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2-0) topped Colorado Christian University (0-1) 3-1 at Stephens Arena to stay perfect on opening day at the Kathleen and Brasfield ASU Invitational.Â

The Javelinas hit .286 and turned in nine service aces for the second consecutive match. The Cougars struggled offensively as they committed 24 attack errors and five service errors, ending the match with a .177 attacking percentage. Â

Lexi Wick locked down the middle with a .485 hitting percentage on 19 kills and added two blocks.
Madison Brabham was one kill shy of tying her single match-high of 14 kills but recorded her first career double-double with ten digs.
Krystal Faison notched her second double-double of the day with 13 digs and 12 kills while also setting the pace with three service aces.
Casey Klobedans joined the fun with 44 helpers, 13 digs, two service aces and two blocks, while the freshman
Jasmine Jacinto hustled all over the court for a team-high 18 digs. Â Â

Set 1Â
Both teams were neck-and-neck throughout the set, however, the Hogs never relinquished the lead and won the opening round 25-23. Brabham and Wick split ten kills evenly for set highs followed by Faison who added three kills. Â

Set 2Â
The Javelinas beat up on the Cougars in the second stanza both offensively and defensively. TAMUK served well as they gathered four aces and stuffed CCU defensively with three total team blocks to their opponents one. Wick paced the team with four kills and two blocks while Faison and Hutchinson recorded three kills each in the 25-19 win.Â
Set 3Â
The Cougars played an aggressive set to avoid the sweep as they outhit the Javs .326-.229 and had two blocks to the TAMUK's zero. Although Wick had an impressive seven-kill set, she was matched by Cali Bahnsen who received help from teammate Jacey Johnson and her five kills, winning the set 25-22.Â

Set 4Â
The errors continued to pile up for the Cougars and the Hoggies capitalized by hitting .310 from the floor – their best of the match. Faison finished with five kills and
Gabby Atchley had a hot hand as well, registering four kills. Both registered and an ace and a block followed by Wick and Brabham who each had three kills. CCU refused to settle for a blowout, but TAMUK overpowered them and claimed the victory 25-17 to end the match. Â Â

Texas A&M-Kingsville will take the floor tomorrow versus Limestone College at 9:30 a.m. and end the Angelo State Invitational at 2:30 p.m. with a rematch against New Mexico Highlands. Â
