COMMERCE, Texas (Track and Field) – After a week off from competition, Texas A&M University-Kingsville is rested and ready for the 2017 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M University-Commerce May 4-6.
The heptathlon and decathlon will begin on Thursday, May 4 and will conclude on Friday. On the second day of the championships, the men and women pole vault, triple jump, hammer throw and shot put will be final events in the field, while all running events will be preliminary rounds except for the 3K Steeplechase and 10K run. Also, the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay will not be featured on day two.
The final day (Saturday, May 6) will begin at 11 a.m. in the field with the javelin throw, long jump, high jump and discus throw events going final. The running events will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relay and will have a rolling schedule until the trophy presentation to conclude the conference championships.
