BRADENTON, Fla. (Track and Field) – Day two of the 2017 NCAA Track and Field Championships come to a close with Texas A&M University-Kingsville's Kaina Martinez advancing to the finals in the women's 200-meter dash. Martinez will be featured in three total events on the final day.
In today's final events, James Passley jumped a 49' 6.50" (15.10m) mark in the triple jump for a 15th place finish and LaGae Brigance cleared the bar at 5' 5.75" (1.67m) to finish 11th in the women's high jump.
Moving to the track, Martinez qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 200-meter dash after placing 5th with a time of 23.70 seconds. Plaserae Johnson ran the race in 23.95 seconds and placed 10th. Javier Lopez did not compete in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
The final day of the NCAA Championships is set with six Javelinas competing in the finals across five events. Christian Garcia and Vitaly Zhgun will represent the Blue and Gold in the men's shot put and javelin throw, respectively, and the women will have Martinez run in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash finals, and then join Johnson, Brigance and Keandria Taylor in the women's 4x100-meter relay.Â
