HOUSTON (Beach Volleyball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-8) received victories from
Haley Hutchinson and
Maelee Sowa and
Lexi Wick and
Kyra Henderson on day one and
Morgan Broussard and
Madison Brabham won two flights on day two of the Third Coast Classic at the Third Coast Volleyball Club. The Javelinas fell to the University of New Orleans (4-6) 3-2 Friday and the University of Louisiana at Monroe (7-5) 4-1 and Houston Baptist University (8-6) 4-1 Saturday.
FRIDAY VS. PRIVATEERS
It was close in all five sets, beginning with Hutchinson and Sowa giving TAMUK a 16-21, 21-17, 15-11 victory in No. 5. Broussard and Brabham threatened in No. 4, 16-21, 21-18, 15-9 and
Kat Evans and
Kadi Shipman did the same in No. 3, 21-18, 19-21, 10-15. Wick and Henderson took No. 1, 21-19, 21-16.
SATURDAY VS. WARHAWKS
Wick and Henderson nearly escaped No. 1 with a 21-19, 17-21, 15-10 victory and
Gabby Atchley and
Kelby Sprinkles gave Delaney Driver and Gabby Love a tough run, 25-23, 21-14, in No. 2. In No. 4, Broussard and Brabham defeated Grace Convey and Bailey Smith, 21-19, 17-21, 15-10.
SATURDAY VS. HUSKIES
Moving up to No. 3 brought the same result for Broussard and Brabham as the tandem defeated Bailey Banks and Melissa Fuchs, 22-20, 21-17. No. 5 was a close win for HBU as Hutchinson and Sowa nearly upset the Huskies, 21-17, 22-20. In No. 4, Evans and
Kadi Shipman forced a third set, 17-21, 23-21, 15-12.
