GAME 27: Upset Minded Hogs Embrace Cinderella Role

Javelinas battle top seed Greyhounds at 6 p.m. Thursday

ALLEN, Texas (Women's Basketball) – The stage is new for all of Texas A&M University-Kingsville (13-13) as this year's squad has zero players that have participated in the Lone Star Conference Championship. However, there is a sense of comfort for this year's squad as the Javelinas look to make it two in a row versus #RV Eastern New Mexico University (20-7), this time as the No. 8 seed versus the No. 1.

The 6 p.m. bout is the opening round of the 2017 LSC Championship with the winner advancing to the semifinals, set to take place Saturday at 6 p.m. versus Texas A&M University-Commerce or Tarleton State University.

In the 85-71 win at Greyhound Arena to end the regular season, the Javelinas shot 52 percent from the field and pulled down 46 rebounds. Tee Moore led the Hogs with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Meesha Wade followed with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals and fellow senior Kaylin Roher registered 13 points, three dimes and two steals. Junior Angelica Wilson continued her strong second half with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting off the bench. Jelly was a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.

TIP OFF
Roher enters in fifth in program history in three-pointers made with 116. She leads the Hogs in scoring and steals with 10.8 and 1.8, respectively. Wilson leads the Hogs defensively with 1.1 blocks per game, all off the bench. Kana is pulling down 7.7 rebounds per contest.

Saturday's win gave TAMUK the most victories in a season since 2008-09 when the Blue and Gold went 16-11.

LAST TIME THEY MET IN THE POSTSEASON
Thursday's matchup will be the first at the LSC Championship since March 2, 1995, when the Greyhounds defeated the Hogs 85-68 in Canyon, Texas.

NEXT UP
Should the Javelinas win, they would advance to the semifinals of the LSC Championship Saturday at 6 p.m. The winner of No. 4 A&M-Commerce and No. 5 Tarleton State would be on the docket.
