Texas A&M-Kingsville is back at .500 after achieving its first sweep of the young 2017 season against Texas A&M International, 6-4 and 4-1. Victoria Schoonard-Saborio had an impressive series that thrusted her to the forefront of the team with a .345 batting average, .448 slugging percentage and .424 on-base percentage. She ties three other players with a team-high five runs batted in (Roxy Chapa-.281, Alexei Gonzalez-.259 and Rachael Longoria-.259).

Randa Hatter has a .733 slugging percentage in 15 at bats after crushing two balls over the fence in the first game of the twin bill on Tuesday. This season, the freshman bats .267 and leads the bullpen with a 3.86 ERA for a 2-2 in the circle. Breanna Smith is also 2-2 and has a team-high of 15 strikeouts this season in 24.2 innings tossed. Carlie Clark (0-1) has a 4.50 ERA and nine K's in 14 innings. The senior has one save and one complete game  this season. Sarah Gilbert has also seen some time on the circle and is 1-0 with six strikeouts in four appearances.

This will Midwestern State's first non-neutral road game series this year. The Mustangs are 9-8 overall and are 2-1 in the LSC after beating UT Permian Basin in the series 3-1, 5-3, and 0-6. Most recently, they split a doubleheader with Oklahoma Christian at home. Although being run-ruled in the season finale of 2016 (10-1), MSU took the four-game series three games to one to shut the door on the Hogs LSC Tournament appearance opportunity. The last time the 'Stangs were in Kingsville (2015) the clubs split a four-game series.

Carli Woolsey is the leading batter for the Maroons with a .385 batting average and .654 slugging percentage. Woolsey has a team-best 20 hits and ties Lauren Lindgren (.327 batting average) with 12 RBI's and four home runs. Lindgren has a .403 on-base percentage and has swiped five bags this season. Taylor Mordecai concludes the .300 batters with her .326 average at 43 at bats.

Inside of the circle, Peyton Helton (4-3) has a 1.96 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 46.1 innings. Helton matches Erin Knox (3-3) with three complete games and one shutout this season. In 39.2 innings pitched, Knox has sat down 22 batters with a 3.00 ERA. Taylor Jerrick wraps up the Mustang's bullpen with a 4.91 ERA and 11 strikeouts. Jerrick is 2-2 in the circle but has given up five home runs in 25.2 innings pitched.
