KINGSVILLE, Texas – It turns out Ralph Rubalcaba will not be the only TAMUK football player participating postseason action. Fellow offensive lineman Stuart Sanchez will be joining Rubalcaba at Dream Bowl VI on January 15th at the Salem Football Stadium in Salem, Va., while senior defensive back Jarrod Sanders will be participating in the 2017 D2 vs. NAIA Challenge.
Sanchez heads to the Dream Bowl after garnering second-team All-Lone Star Conference honors in his final season in the Blue and Gold. It also marked the second consecutive year he was an all-conference selection.
Sanders provided a veteran presence in the Javelina secondary in 2017. In eight games, the Alabama native totaled five pass-breakups, the third-most on the team. He also collected 33 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss.
Sanders will be heading to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the D2 vs. NAIA Challenge, which is scheduled for December 15th. The Dream Bowl will take Sanchez and Rubalcaba to Virginia for four days of festivities, including an NFL/CFL scouting combine on Jan. 11th.
