WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (19-11, 11-7 LSC) will hit the road to challenge Midwestern State University (14-15, 6-12 LSC) on Friday, November 10 and Cameron University (7-20, 3-15 LSC) on Saturday, November 11 to end the regular season.
The final week of competition will feature a pair of teams who are playing for pride as both Midwestern State and Cameron are not eligible for the conference tournament. Live stats and a live stream will be provided on the volleyball schedule page of javelinaathletics.com.
Krystal Faison leads the Javelinas with 295 kills (2.63 kills per set) and is 13 kills shy of moving to No. 2 in the school's record book for career kills. She leads the team with 47 aces and has 30 total blocks this year.
Madison Brabham is right behind her with 293 kills and has a team-high 2.74 kills per set.
Lexi Wick is next with 257 kills, 92 blocks and 26 aces this season, and LSC Offensive Player of the Week,
Shelby Sheets is on the cusps of 200 kills (197) in her freshman campaign.
Haley Hutchinson anchors the defense with 11 total blocks and is also a force on offense with 168 kills. Setter
Casey Klobedans ranks second in the LSC with 688 total assists and 10.12 assists per set. She is already the school's all-time leader in career assists but is 41 kills away from an incredible mark of 5,000 career assists.
Midwestern State has a .180 attack percentage and averages 12.3 kills per set this season. They have had a decent year at home, posting a 6-4 record, despite currently on a two-match losing streak in the D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Meghan Bettis leads the team with 279 kills (2.97 kills per set) and 3.16 points per set. Addison Semer has 238 total kills and 100 blocks, followed by Rockelle Gholson's 219 kills. Raven Presley is the team leader with 107 blocks and adds 189 kills, and setter Kristan Aduddell has 23 aces this season.
Cameron enters the final weekend on a five-match losing streak and has lost the last two matches against Kingsville at Aggie gym in the all-time series. The Aggies hit just .168 overall this season and conference opponents average a .215 attack percentage against them. Paige Dixon paces the team with 310 kills followed by Ashleigh McFatridge (192 kills), Brandy Carr (147 kills), Brittany Lawson (145 kills), and Bristol Lewis (125 kills). Carr leads the Aggies with 118 blocks, while Brittnee Altic has recorded 33 aces in 2017.
In the latest South Central Region rankings, the Javelinas stay put at No. 9 despite upsetting West Texas A&M who still ranks eighth in the region. In terms of conference standings, TAMUK is in a three-way tie for third place with #25 Angelo State and West Texas A&M. The LSC Championships will be held in Stephenville, Texas, hosted by #14 Tarleton State on November 16-18. Final conference standings along with the conference tournament matchups will be released on Saturday evening.
