The Javelinas are ready to end their two-match skid after a tough weekend where they played phenomenal volleyball against nationally ranked opponents. In fact, the Javelinas not only lead the Lone Star Conference in total blocks (304), service aces (228), and aces per set (1.70), but they also rank sixth, tenth, and 45th, respectively, in the same categories. Senior outside Krystal Faison leads the team with 2.58 kills per set and 26 service aces. Faison now sits second in the school's record book with 152 career aces. Haley Hutchinson and Lexi Wick still rank second and third in the LSC with attack percentages of .345 and .342, in that order. Wick tallies 2.55 kills per set and 0.83 blocks per set and Hutchinson sets the tone defensively with 0.89 blocks per set. Casey Klobedans leads all conference setters with 628 total assists (9.52 per set).

First on the docket for the Javelinas is a struggling UT Permian Basin club that is nursing a six-match losing streak and has not won a set since September 15. The Falcons are 1-6 in LSC competition but picked up their only conference win at home against Cameron in four sets. Rachel Dixon leads the offense with 2.59 kills per set (127 kills) followed by Caitlyn Guajardo's 2.24 kills per set (114 kills). Skyler Friel adds 67 kills and leads the team with 45 total blocks and ten service aces this season.

TAMUK leads the all-time series 4-1 and swept UTPB in the season series in 2016.

West Texas A&M is at .500 this season and boast a 7-1 record at home despite their four-match losing streak. The Lady Buffs are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Eastern New Mexico and will step out of conference play to challenge Dallas Baptist on October 6 before the match with the Blue and Gold. WT has the fourth-best hitting percentage in the league at .213 but surrenders a .209 clip to its opponents, ranking tenth out of 11 institutions. There are three Lady Buffs with over 100 kills consisting of Kamille Jones (134), Erin Clark (124), and Crystal Thomas (109). Thomas also paces the team with 64 blocks, while setter Selina Batiste directs the offense with 9.43 assists per set and a team-high 14 aces.

Texas A&M-Kingsville has defeated West Texas A&M four times in the last five meetings and currently holds a three-match winning streak. However, WT leads the all-time series 48-6.
