Road Trip Concludes Against Nationally Ranked Belles

Texas A&M-Kingsville and No. 23 Angelo State collide for the second time this season

SAN ANGELO, Texas – A three-match road trip ends for Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (17-10, 9-6 LSC) in a pivotal match against No. 23 Angelo State University (16-8, 8-7 LSC) at the Junell Center on Halloween night at 7 p.m.

Despite being ranked the No. 23 team in Division II volleyball, the Rambelles finds themselves behind the Javelinas in the Lone Star Conference standings. A victory over the reigning LSC Champions would be huge for Kingsville and would create space in terms of seeding in the conference tournament a couple of weeks away.

The Hogs .226 clip ranks third in the LSC and their opponents average a league-low 1.85 blocks per set. In addition to a strong offense, they keep their opponent's offense at bay with a .167 attack percentage.

Madison Brabham leads a trio of 200-plus kill athletes with 273 and averages 2.81 kills per set. Krystal Faison is right behind her with 267 kills and leads the club with 41 aces. Middle Lexi Wick has 241 kills, a team-high .310 hitting percentage, 86 blocks and 24 aces in 2017. Haley Hutchinson has 157 kills and leads the team with 100 blocks, including 21 solo blocks. Freshman Shelby Sheets is nearby with 152 kills and Gabby Atchley has 120 kills and 15 aces. Casey Klobedans directs the offense with 9.84 assists per set, while Jasmine Jacinto leads the team with 4.05 digs per set.

ASU hits .234 as a unit and holds its opponents to a .142 attack percentage, both ranking second in the LSC. The Belles lead the conference with 13.26 assists per set, 17.31 digs per set, and 20.91 blocks per set.

Brianna Sotello is the team leader with 342 kills and averages 3.89 kills per set – second-best in the LSC in both categories – while adding 23 aces in 2017. Anna Graham is next with 186 kills followed by Sundara Chinn who has 168 kills and ties Sotello with 38 blocks. Though she has just 160 kills, Morgan Seaton has an efficient .329 hitting percentage that heads the league and 80 total blocks that leads the team. She also adds 24 service aces this season. Bailey Drum rounds out the top hitters with 135 kills and setter Meghan Parker paces the team with 8.55 assists per set and 29 aces.

Angelo State won the first meeting this season in an incredible five-set classic. Live stats and stream will be available at javelinaathletics.com.
