Faison Sits Atop Record Book, Sheets Sets New Career-High in Comeback Win

Texas A&M-Kingsville snaps Texas Woman's five-match home winning streak

DENTON, TexasKrystal Faison rewrites the record book in Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (17-9, 9-5 LSC) come-from-behind victory over Texas Woman's University (10-14, 7-8 LSC) on Friday night at Kitty Magee Arena.

After dropping the first set 21-25, the Javelinas dominated the Pioneers 25-12 in the second stanza, escaped the third frame 25-23, and annihilated the opposition 25-16 to complete the comeback. The Hoggies held the home team to a .110 attack percentage and was one block shy of matching their season-high of 15. Offensively, the club hit .248 and aced TWU three times.

All three aces were logged by Krystal Faison who is now the school's all-time leader with 166 career service aces. The senior outside hitter finished the match with a double-double, recording 18 digs, 11 kills, and added three blocks. Madison Brabham tallied 16 kills as did freshman Shelby Sheets which is a new career-high. Sheets also held a match-high .343 hitting percentage. Casey Klobedans also eclipsed a double-double with 50 assists and 17 digs, while Haley Hutchinson had a season-best of nine blocks to go along with four kills. Lexi Wick had nine kills and five blocks in the match, and Courtney Rabius paced the team with 20 digs.

Texas Woman's also had a trio of players with double digits in kills and two with double-doubles. Makayla Mayfield had 15 kills, 10 digs, and the team's lone ace, followed by Miri Shade's 10 kills and 12 digs. Briley Cole-Lewis rounded out the Pioneers top hitters with ten kills in the loss.

The Blue and Gold will go against a hot A&M-Commerce club tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Field House to conclude the weekend.
