KINGSVILLE, Texas – With homecoming activities filling the atmosphere, Texas A&M University-Kingsville (16-9, 8-5 LSC) adds its contribution to the party by handling Western New Mexico University (6-14, 6-6 LSC) in straight sets for their third win of the weekend.
The Javelinas dominated the entire match, gathering a sideout percentage of 80 while hitting a new season-high .417. The home team was led by
Madison Brabham who turned in 19 kills on 25 swings. This marks the third time this season that Brabham has matched her career-high.
Shelby Sheets put down 12 kills in the match followed by
Lexi Wick's seven.
Krystal Faison finished with six kills and continues to push towards the number one spot in career service aces after racking up two against the Mustangs.
Haley Hutchinson paced the defense with two blocks and added four kills and
Casey Klobedans also had four kills to go along with her 44 assists.
Kelli McGhiey and Kalie Lyle were the team leaders for the Mustangs as they both had seven kills each. Ashley Mataele tied Faison for a match-high two aces and Aspen Luna and Heather Verrill both had two blocks.
The Blue and Gold will get a full week of rest before they embark on a three-match road trip highlighted by a bout with No. 22 Angelo State.
