KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (13-8, 6-4 LSC) concluded the weekend with another sweep, downing Midwestern State University (9-10, 3-7 LSC) Saturday afternoon at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center.
The Javelinas continues their superiority over the Mustangs, increasing their win streak to seven straight and are now an impressive 10-3 all-time when the two clubs meet on the Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
No doubt about it, MSU made the home team earn the win after tight second and third sets. However, TAMUK would not let them get too comfortable as they logged a 62 sideout percentage and hit .274 as a team.
Madison Brabham was the Javs top hitter for the fourth consecutive match with 15 kills and chipped in two blocks.
Haley Hutchinson followed with eight kills and three blocks and
Lexi Wick had seven kills, a team-high of four total blocks and one of the Hoggies five aces. Freshman
Shelby Sheets hit a career milestone of 100 kills after adding seven to her season total and
Jasmine Jacinto finished the match with 15 digs, tied with two other players.
Rockelle Gholson led the Mustangs with 12 kills and one ace, while Raven Presley added eight kills. Kristan Aduddell and Arielle Edwards split 30 digs evenly, and Addison Semer had a match-high of five blocks.
Texas A&M-Kingsville starts the second half of conference play with a big match Tuesday, October 17 at #15 Tarleton State.
