Pack the House for Volleyball's Home Opener

The Javelinas are 10-4 against the Rattlers dating back to 2006

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Volleyball) – Come out to the home opener for Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-0) as the Javelinas host St. Mary's University (1-3), Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court for Kleberg Bank Pack the House Night. The first 200 students will receive a free t-shirt and a $25 visa gift card will be given out in between sets two and three to the best dancer.

Live stats, audio and video will be available free of charge on JavelinaAthletics.com, beginning with the pregame show on the Javelina Sports Network. Kevin Piel will call the action live from the SPEC.

The Javelinas began the 2016 season an impressive 4-0 and showcased a balanced effort, hitting .265 and limiting opponents to .117. TAMUK is in the midst of six wins in its last seven sets, including sweeps over Saint Joseph's College and 2015 Great American Conference Champions, Arkansas Tech University. 

After competing for the first time since 2014, Lexi Wick was unstoppable on both sides of the floor, finishing the weekend with 39 kills on .469 hitting, seven aces and 21 blocks. She finished the weekend with 39 kills, seven aces and a team-high of 21 blocks. Krystal Faison paced the way for the Hogs with 48 kills and the junior added five aces and four blocks. Casey Klobedans' 10.14 assists per set ranks fourth in the Lone Star Conference, while Ashley Bukowski led the club with eight service aces and contributed 39 kills. 

St. Mary's will head to the SPEC for its third South Central Regional match of the season after falling in straight sets to LSC members Tarleton State University and Angelo State University. The Rattlers picked up their first win of the season in a 3-0 win over South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to close out the ASU Invitational. 

Tarine Grace registered a team-high of 31 kills and eight blocks, while Maddi King has 25 kills and Shelley Chapron follows with 15 kills and seven service aces. 

"With St. Mary's being our second regional opponent, it is important for our team to come out strong," said head coach Tanya Allen. "We have a special group of kids on this team and I am excited to play in front of Javelina faithful. I hope we can fill the gym!"

Despite trailing the all-time series 27-13, the Hogs are 7-5 when hosting the Rattlers. TAMUK is currently on a four-match winning streak after sweeping StMU in consecutive seasons.
