Flashback! Hogs Go for 68 for First Time Since 1977, Start Season 2-0

Javelinas defeated Clan 68-7

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Football) –
There's no better way to head into Lone Star Conference play than the showing the Javelinas gave the 10,200 fans at Javelina Stadium. #RV Texas A&M University-Kingsville jumped out to a 40-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes and began the second half with the same offensive explosion, adding Myles Carr's fourth touchdown of the first half and second to Anthony Autry. All in all, the Hogs improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2012 with a 68-7 victory over Simon Fraser University (0-2) Saturday evening.

The 68 points were tied for the fifth most in single game history and are the most since 1977.

The opening quarter was full of firsts; Greg Pitre's first rushing touchdown since 2014, Nick Pelrean's first career score on the ground and Anthony Autry's two TDs. Carr's four touchdowns extend his streak to 14 consecutive throwing TDs without a touchdown.

1st Quarter
Note: unconfirmed as we didn't track quarter stats until 2013 – The 40 first quarter points were the most scored in a single quarter in school history. Carr went 6-of-7 with 157 yards and three touchdowns in the first 15 minutes. Just seconds into the game, Carr found a trailing Autry for an 80-yard connection. Nico Brown ended a 7-play, 78-yard drive with a 8-yard score, his first as a Javelina. Nick Pelrean scored on a 58-yard rush and a minute later, Pitre capped off a three-play drive with a two-yard rush into the endzone.

With 5:25 remaining in the quarter, Jarrod Sanders forced an interception and returned it 35 yards to make it a 33-0 ballgame. Three minutes later, Autry and Carr connected for their second combo score.

2nd Quarter
The Hogs added the fourth touchdown for Carr and third to Autry seven seconds into the second. At the half, the Javelinas led 47-7. Brandon Jones collected four total tackles, 3.0 sacks and 3.5 tackles for losses in the opening 30 minutes. Pelrean rushed for 61 yards on four carries.

3rd Quarter
Defense stood out in the third, highlighted by Forrest Jones' third career interception and first pick-six. The third interception returned for a touchdown came with 1:48 remaining in the game as Rodney Hubert added a pick of his own to extend the lead to 61-7. The 61 points mark the first time A&M-Kingsville scored 60 or more points since Aug. 27, 2005 versus Texas College.

4TH Quarter
Darrow Adams capped off a 9-play, 50-yard drive with a 33-yard rushing score, his first of the season, extending A&M-Kingsville's lead to 68-7 with 8:20 left to play. The 68 points are the tied for the fifth most in single game history and ties point total since Oct. 25, 1941 when the Hogs blanked East Central, 68-0.

The Hogs begin LSC play next week with nationally-ranked Midwestern State University Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. for its Hall of Fame & Champions Game. Hall of Fame is set for Friday evening when Andrea Ratkovic, Roberto Garza, Steve Foley and the 1995-96 men's basketball team become the next Javelina greats to be enshrined in the Javelina Hall of Fame.

Single game tickets are available and can be purchased by calling 361-593-4030 or by visiting the McCulley Hall Ticket Office.
