KINGSVILLE, Texas (Softball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (18-29, 7-17 LSC) concludes their home schedule with a huge series against Tarleton State University (25-22, 8-16 LSC) April 15-16 at the Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field.
Friday's doubleheader will be at 5 and 7 p.m. and the series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 and 4 p.m.
With the sixth and final spot up for grabs still for the Lone Star Conference Tournament, the matchups against Tarleton State and Midwestern State University on April…can be determining factors for the Javelinas to enter post team play. MSU currently holds the sixth spot and heads into this weekend with a LSC record.
The LSC Tournament will take place April 29-30 with the No. 1 (West Texas A&M) and No. 2 seeds receiving an automatic bye week. The No. 3 and No. 6 seeds will play as well as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds on Friday, April 29. Immediately following those single-game elimination matchups, the winner of No. 3 vs. No. 6 will play the No. 2 seed and the winner of No. 4 vs. No. 5 will play West Texas A&M who just won their third consecutive LSC Title to become the third team in LSC history to achieve that milestone (Southeastern Oklahoma 1999-2001 and Angelo State 2008-2010).

Victoria Schoonard-Saborio (.315) all bat over the .300 clip for the Javs in 2016.
Roxy Chapa bats .295 and needs one home run to reach second place for most home runs in a single season at 10. Adela Gomez (2013) and Marquesha Torres (2007) both hold the record with 11 home runs in one season.
Chapa and Schoonard-Saborio is tied with eight multiple RBI games this season while Longoria leads the club with 14 multiple hit games this season. Boyett is right behind Longoria with 12 multiple hit games and currently has a streak of 15 games reaching the bags safely.
Karri Smith tossed her eighth complete game this season against St. Mary's, making her the all-time leader in games finished at 29. The senior is 5-9 in the circle and has an ERA of 4.56 in 2016.
Carlie Clark is 8-10 on the rubber and has 70 strikeouts in 85.1 innings pitched.
About the TexAnnsTarleton State is 8-16 in LSC play and is 6-12 as the visiting team this season. TSU upset #22 Cameron University 3-1 at home coming into the four-game series against the Javelinas. They have a team batting average of .307 and are ranked third in the LSC with a 3.46 ERA.
Katelyn Conlee leads the team with a .376 batting average and Nyka Wood follows her with a average of .361. Wood leads the club with seven home runs and 39 RBI this season. Melody Mayse hits .327 in the batter's box and has a team high of 168 at bats, 55 hits, 41 runs, and eight triples. Savannah Steech (.322) and Avery Mullendore (.306) round out the rest of the .300 batters this season for the TexAnns.
Haley Freyman is 20-15 in the circle in 2016 and has an ERA of 2.58. Freyman leads the conference with 203.1 innings pitched, and has struck out 116 total batters, placing her second in the LSC. Shelby Hedrick is 3-4 this season and Alyssa Ringhausen is 2-3.
Prior to the beginning of Saturday's doubleheader, seniors
Michaela Huebotter, Karri Smith, and
Corinee Brassell will be recognized as they play their final collegiate home game for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
