COMMERCE, Texas (Softball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (6-9, 0-4 LSC) continues Lone Star Conference play at Texas A&M University-Commerce (14-5, 1-3 LSC) at John Cain Family Softball Field March 4-5. A doubleheader begins Friday at 5 p.m. with the second game scheduled for 7 p.m. First pitch Saturday is slated for 1 p.m.

Roxy Chapa leads the Hogs in hitting and is in the midst of a nine-game hit streak. The freshman backstop is averaging .356 with three home runs, six doubles and 17 RBI. The streak saw her batting average increase from .263 to .356.

Haley Boyett is batting .341 from the leadoff spot with 14 runs scored and eight stolen bases.
Victoria Schoonard-Saborio and
Rachael Longoria are over the .300-clip. In the circle,
Sarah Gilbert is 2-3 with a 4.20 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
Carlie Clark has two wins and
Karri Smith and
Michaela Huebotter each have one. As a staff, the Javelinas have four complete games thus far.

Commerce hosts the Newman University Jets Thursday at 5 p.m. before resuming LSC play after losing 3-of-4 at Cameron University. The second year program is hitting .311 as a team with three batters over .300, led by Kylene Hatton's .414 clip. Cherie Jackson has five home runs and 27 RBI for the Lions. Her 27 ribbies are sixth most in Division II. On the basepaths, A&M-Commerce is deadly, swiping 3.82 bags per contest, second most in the NCAA. Â
