KINGSVILLE, Texas (Softball) –
 Texas A&M University-Kingsville officially begins the 2016 at home Tuesday, hosting Texas A&M International University (3-5) at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field beginning at 4 p.m.
 
Prior to the Game

Who's Returning?
Six letterwinners return for Texas A&M-Kingsville; Haley Boyett (.298 batting average, three triples, 14 extra-base hits), Myrissa Sanchez (20 starts), Carlie Clark (team-high .467 batting average, .538 on-base percentage, six complete games, 5-5 record), Karri Smith (21 complete games in 23 starts, eight wins, .293 batting average), Rachael Longoria (All-Lone Star Conference third team selection, 32 starts behind the plate, .358 batting average with 23 RBI) and Ariana Munoz (.276 batting average with two doubles and a home run).
 
Two-thirds of the rotation returns in Smith and Clark as the duo combined for 13 wins and 27 complete games. Smith threw 154.2 innings last season and Clark followed with 63.1.
 
Scouting the Dustdevils
Texas A&M International is 3-5 in 2016 after two wins against Adams State University and one versus Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The Dustdevils fell to Lone Star Conference memebrs Angelo State University and nationally-ranked Tarleton State University (No. 10 in the NFCA Poll).
 
Brittany Mussett is leading the club with a .407 batting average and eight RBI and Taylor Vines posts averages of .393 and a .414 on-base percentage. Krystal De La Cruz is 2-0 with a complete game in two starts and Delainy Thompson is 1-3 with a 3.55 ERA in five appearances (three starts).
 
What's Next
Following Tuesday's games, the Javelinas take a day off before beginning the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Softball Invitational with one game on Thursday against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Tuesday's games are the first two of seven in a six-day span.
