LAWTON, Okla. (Volleyball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (14-5, 5-3 LSC) governed Cameron University (2-17, 0-10 LSC) in straight sets to record its seventh sweep of the season Friday evening at Aggie Gym.
After ending their season in the first round of the LSC Championships a season ago, The Aggies could not keep up with the Javelinas who put on a clinic after hitting .231 from the floor, held their opponent to a season-low -.009 hitting percentage and tied their season-high of 13 blocks for third time in 2016.
Lexi Wick led the way on both sides of the net with 12 kills and eight blocks falling just short of back-to-back double-double performances. Krystal Faison chiseled her 11th double-double with 11 kills and ten digs and Casey Klobedans registered 37 assists and recorded a season-high of five blocks. Madison Brabham finished with seven kills and tied Haley Hutchinson with three blocks. Ashley Bukowski concluded the match with five kills and two service aces, while Krystal Puente led the club with 23 digs and had one ace.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
The Hogs struck first in the match and jumped out to an 11-5 lead behind two kills and an ace from Bukowski. They never relinquished the lead and won the opening set 25-17 behind five kills from Faison. Bukowski, Brabham and Wick each had three kills and Hutchinson ended the set with two.
Set 2
The Javs kept the pressure on the home team by enforcing its will in the second stanza and obtained a dominate 17-3 lead before the Aggies decided to call a timeout. The team cruised to a 25-11 win as the team hit .200 and held their opponent to a match low -.188 hitting percentage.
Set 3
Cameron fought back in the third frame and led early 5-2. However, Kingsville's offense was too much for them as they went on a 6-1 run highlighted by three kills from Wick to take an 8-6 lead. Later in the set ahead 16-13, The Hogs put the nail in the coffin with a 5-0 burst and ultimately won 25-17. Faison and Wick gathered five kills in the set while Wick also collected four total blocks.
WHAT'S NEXT
Texas A&M-Kingsville will have a double-dip tomorrow when they take on Midwestern State at noon followed by a match with St. Edward's at 3 p.m., both at the D. L. Ligon Coliseum.
