KINGSVILLE, Texas (Men's Basketball) – The stage is set for Texas A&M University-Kingsville (8-4, 0-1 LSC) to upset a top 10 opponent as nationally-ranked Tarleton State University (12-2, 2-0 LSC), No. 9 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Poll and No. 15 in the DII Media Poll presented by D2SIDA, enters the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court on Jan. 9 at 8 p.m.
 
Saturday is H-E-B Community Appreciation Day and admission is free so don't miss your chance to see the Javelinas take on the Texans, a 2015 Final Four participant.
 
Last Time Out
Cris Boleware began the New Year continuing his hot streak, scoring 17 points on 4-6 shooting from three-point range in the Lone Star Conference opener at #RV A&M-Commerce. Troy Jones added 17 points and eight rebounds, Will West recorded 10 points and Marcus Frazier came off the bench with nine points.
 
Season Statistics
Jones leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points and 6.6 rebounds. DJ Weathers follows with 11.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists. In his first season in a Javelina uniform, Boleware is posting marks of 9.2 points, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals.
 
The Texans handed No. 4/4 Angelo State University its first loss of the season, 85-57. Tarleton State has won seven consecutive road games and is led by EJ Reed, who is averaging 19.9 points on 63.6 percent shooting and 9.1 rebounds. Malcolm Hamilton scores 12.4 points per game on 53.2 percent shooting, 7.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, Charles Hill adds 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists and Michael Hardge records 11.6 points, 4.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds.
