Match 15: Road Trip to St. Mary’s for @JavelinaVB

Javelinas swept the Rattlers at home earlier this month

KINGSVILLE, Texas – A trip up to San Antonio on Tuesday concludes a quick three-match road swing for the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team. The Javelinas will take on St. Mary's at 7 p.m. in Bill Greehey Arena.

TAMUK goes into the contest with a 7-7 record while the Rattlers are 3-9 after snapping an eight game losing streak on Friday against Oklahoma Panhandle State.

Earlier this season the Blue and Gold swept STMU in both squads' opening match at the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational. That match saw Tanya Allen become TAMUK's all-time winningest coach.

Scouting Texas A&M-Kingsville
Krystal Faison has taken over the team lead with 167 total kills and 3.04 k/s. Junior Ashley Bukowski is right behind her with 163 kills and a 2.96 average per set. Also over the 100-kill mark is Valarie Moehrig with 151.

Setter Casey Klobedans has recorded 553 assists this season and averages 10.05 a set, both ranking fourth in the Lone Star Conference. Last week she moved into ninth on the school's all-time assists list and is 35 shy of overtaking Courtney Gamble (1998-99) for eighth place.

At the service line, five players have double-digit aces this year paced by 16 apiece from Faison and Klobedans. Abbey Wells and Bukowski are tied for third with 12 each while Brett Zaccardo has 10.

Fellow classmate Madison Brabham is second with 32 blocks. Coming in with over 20 blocks are Bukowski (22), Klobedans (27) and Moehrig (22) as well.

After the fourth week of play, TAMUK has totaled 22 double-doubles between three players. Faison leads the team with eight while Bukowski and Klobedans have seven apiece.

Zaccardo's Career-Highs
Sophomore libero Zaccardo set new career-highs in assists and digs against Our Lady of the Lake. She recorded 31 digs in the five-set contest to surpass her previous best of 30 at Eastern New Mexico last season. Her eight assists in the game broke her old mark of seven set earlier this season against St. Mary's.

LSC Player of the Week for Zaccardo

With the Javelinas sweep of St. Mary's in their first match of the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational, head coach Tanya Allen became the winningest coach in program history. She earned her 69th victory since coming to Kingsville. Her win total surpassed Jane Kieschnick (2000-06) mark of 68 wins.

New 3-Set Dig Record
Zaccardo set a new team record in the Javelinas final match of their home tournament. She recorded 29 digs in the three-set victory over Lubbock Christian. The previous record was 26 set by Tara Grier against Eastern New Mexico at home on Sept. 15, 2007.

Emerald Beach Hotel All-Tournament
Faison was the Blue and Gold's selection to the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament team. She led all players with 48 kills and was second with a 3.69 k/s average. Faison also recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the first two contests.

Matched Service Aces Mark
