WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Men's Basketball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (8-17, 3-10 LSC) led 30-29 at halftime, but Midwestern State University (20-7, 9-4 LSC) outscored the Javelinas, 47-23, in the second half to defeat the Hogs, 76-53, on Saturday evening at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Ranked No. 3 in the nation in three-point field goal defense and fifth in field goal percentage defense, Midwestern State proved it can succeed on the offensive side of the ball, shooting 60 percent from the field. MSU made the most of its free throw opportunities, going 18-of-20 from the line, while the Javelinas went to the charity stripe seven times on the day.

With the win, MSU earned the regular season sweep over the Javelinas and improved to 32-11 all-time against TAMUK with 16 consecutive victories.

Jordan Jahr and Don Thomas scored 12 points apiece to pace the Hogs and Will West dished out four assists off the bench.

Ten of Thomas' 12 points came in the opening frame and Jahr posted nine points and four rebounds in the first. Down 18-8 with 8:31 remaining in the first, Thomas' three-point play at the 7:50 mark catapulted Kingsville's 11-2 run to cut it to a one-point game with 2:44 left to play. DJ Weathers connected on a triple with 1:33 remaining to give TAMUK a one-point lead and after five unanswered points, Texas A&M-Kingsville led by as much as four with 49 ticks remaining. MSU drained a three-pointer with 26 seconds left as the Hogs went into the second half with a one-point lead.

The game was knotted up twice early in the second half and a three by West gave Kingsville a one-point lead with 15:47 left. Midwestern State went on an 11-0 run in in a four minute span to jump to a double-digit lead and did not look back in the Lone Star Conference win.

Four Mustangs reached double figures, led by Khapri Alston's game-high 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting.

The Javelinas take a week off before closing out the regular season at No. 10/9 Angelo State University on Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. The Rams fell to Cameron University, 81-78, on Saturday.

Tickets are still available for the 2015 Lone Star Conference Championships. Held from March 4-7 at the Allen Event Center, Texas A&M-Kingsville fans have the opportunity to purchase one ticket and get two free by visiting the ticket office in McCulley Hall, or by visiting JavelinaTickets.com.
