KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team (0-23, 0-13 LSC) welcomes Cameron (13-9, 10-3 LSC) to town for the final game in Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. that is sponsored by Kleberg Bank. Prior to the game the Javelinas will honor the team's two seniors,
Lauren Jay and
Tonje Milde, for their contribution to the program.
A slim edge is held by the Aggies in the all-time series at 18-17. CU won the first meeting this year by eight in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Ashley Viera scored a team-high 15 points for the Javelinas while three others reached double-figures as well.
Leading the Blue and Gold with 11.0 ppg is
Micah Weaver. She is tied for the team-high in field goal percentage (45.1) with Jay while adding 3.8 rpg, 1.5 apg and 1.1 spg.
Jay enters with a team best 6.4 rpg and 1.4 spg. After her season-high point performance on Saturday, she increased her scoring average to 9.3 a contest.
Dishing out the most assists this year is Viera with 2.1 a game. At the free throw line, she has made 40-of-50 (80.0 percent).
The Aggies come into the game tied for second in the Lone Star Conference standings after being picked to finish sixth. They have achieved their success this season from beyond the arc.
Brandi Leal has made a conference best and school record 81 three-pointers. Right behind her is Jade Herl with 60 treys. They both average more than 10 points a game with Leal averaging 13.0 and Herl scoring 10.0.
They are helped out tremendously by Jazzmine Robinson. She is scoring a LSC best 18.2 ppg while also averaging 8.0 rpg, 3.1 apg and 1.9 spg.
