DURANT, Okla. – Day one of the Southeastern Regional Invitational did not go the Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team's (3-3) way. They opened with a 10-4 loss to Newman (2-1) and followed by dropping a nail biter to No. 4 Southeastern Oklahoma State (3-5) 3-2.

Seven Javelinas recorded two hits on the afternoon while five drove in at least one run.

Taking the losses were
Carlie Clark (1-1) and
Karri Smith (2-1) as they both threw complete games. Getting the wins versus the Blue and Gold were Katie Ingles (1-1) of the Jets and the Savage Storm's Jacee Bennett (2-2).

Game 1 vs. NewmanHaley Boyett led off the game by drawing a walk. After advancing into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt,
Rachael Longoria drove her in with on a single.

Back-to-back doubles from
Stephanie Lugo and
Ariana Munoz started the second. Munoz was credited with a RBI on her base knock.
Jaeleen Castro put the Javelinas up 3-0 with a RBI single.

NU answered back with four runs in the bottom of the frame. Three came on a home run by Kassidy Furr.

Clark tied the game 4-4 in the top of the third with her first career homer.

The Jets scored the final six runs of the game thanks to three errors by the Blue and Gold. Four runs were scored in the fourth while they added two the next inning.

Valerie Ramirez, Castro and Munoz all had two hits in the contest to pace TAMUK.

In the circle, Clark went all six innings for her second complete game of the season. She struck out two but surrendered 10 runs, five of them earned, on 12 hits and six walks.

Game 2 - Southeastern Oklahoma StateAfter two scoreless frames, the Savage Storm struck first with a run in the third off a sacrifice fly to right field.

Boyett led off the top of the fourth with a bunt single towards third base. On the very next pitch, Smith sent a blast over the fence in right center to put the Javelinas up 2-1.

SEOSU scored once in the fifth and sixth to go ahead by one.

Down to their last out in the final frame, Clark came up to the plate as a pinch hitter. She proceeded to reach base with an infield single. Bennett of the Savage Storm then struck out the next batter to end the game.

Corinne Brassell, Boyett and Smith all paced the Blue and Gold with two base knocks each.

In the circle, Smith pitched her third complete game of the season. She went six innings with two strikeouts while allowing three runs on 12 hits.

Day two of the tournament sees TAMUK take on Washburn at 12:30 p.m. and No. 16 St. Mary's in a 3 p.m. contest.
