SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team fell to Angelo State, the No. 1 team in the South Central region, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) Friday night in the Junell Center.
The Javelinas dropped to 18-12 overall and 7-6 in the Lone Star Conference while the Rambelles are now 26-5 on the season and 12-2 in league action.
Ashley Bukowski led TAMUK with eight kills and both
Haley Hutchinson and
Madison Brabham finished with five kills apiece.
Casey Klobedans added six kills, a team-high .462 attack percentage and 20 assists.
Defensively, three Javelinas finished the night with double-digit digs.
Brett Zaccardo paced the squad with 19 digs,
Krystal Faison totaled 15 and Bukowski contributed 10.
ASU led the entire way in sets one and three. In those two stanzas, the Hogs were held to a combined 21 kills and .065 attack percentage while the Rambelles totaled 30 kills and hit .250.
The second set started with TAMUK jumping out to a 4-1 lead behind two service aces and a kill courtesy of Faison. A 10-6 advantage was the largest for the Javelinas following a Rambelle attack error. With the score knotted 16-16, ASU won nine of the final 10 points to close out the set.
Next up for the Javelinas is LSC leading Tarleton State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
