KINGSVILLE, Texas – On Saturday afternoon the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team plays their first home game of the 2015-16 season. The Javelinas host St. Mary's at 2 p.m. inside Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
TAMUK is off to their best start in eight years at 3-0 and the Rattlers come in with a 1-1 record.
In the all-time series, the Javelinas hold a 23-20 lead but have lost the past five meetings. The Hogs last victory came on Nov. 23, 2007 at home by the score of 77-70. When playing STMU in the SPEC, TAMUK has been victorious in 16 of the 23 games.
Kaylin Roher is the lone Javelina averaging double-digits in points at 15.0 per contest. She leads the team with eight steals and three-pointers as well.
Averaging 8.3 ppg coming off the bench is
Joslyn Smith. Her 4.7 rpg is tied for the most on the squad with
Lily Hospers. Both
Kaylee Kana and
Jamesha Wade are scoring 8.0 points per contest mark.
TaSheena Moore has dished out a team-high seven assists with only one turnover and grabs 4.3 rpg.
For STMU, Kiara Etheridge enters the game pacing the team with 21.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg and a 53.1 field goal percentage. Dezirae Elias contributes 13.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg and a team-high 3.0 apg.
Arysia Porter is averaging 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assist per contest. Both Claira Briseno and Haley Richter are putting up 6.0 ppg.
