EDINBURG, Texas (Men's Basketball) – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (1-2) shot 51.9 percent in its first win of the season Friday evening, a 78-56 decision in the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

An exhibition contest for the Javelinas, the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference (WAC) affiliate featured four double digit scorers while Texas A&M-Kingsville shot just 29 percent from the floor. Pacign the Hogs was
DJ Weathers with 16 points and
Jamar Goodwin added 12. Continuing to provide a much needed presence down low off the bench was
JaMarkus Horace, who pulled down five rebounds and
Kyre Edwards connected on three triples to finish with nine points.

Shaquille Hines registered a double-double for UTRGV with 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Antonio Green led all scorers with 20 points, 12 coming from three-point range.

The Javelinas will return to the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center to host Ohio Valley University on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
