KINGSVILLE, Texas – For the second time in three games the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team will take the court against Texas A&M International. The two teams will face off Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
The Javelinas enter the game with a 2-0 record while the Dustdevils are 0-2 on the young season.
In the all-time series, the Blue and Gold leads 9-7 and is 4-3 when playing in Laredo, Texas. The first meeting this season saw the Hogs win 60-57 to snap a 27-game losing streak at the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic in Stephenville, Texas.
Kaylin Roher paces TAMUK with 15.0 ppg and 3.0 spg. She is shooting 34.5 percent from the field and has made half of the team's 10 three-pointers.
Both
TaSheena Moore and
Joslyn Smith are averaging eight points per contest. Moore leads the Javelinas with five assists and Smith has grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds.
Recording a block each this year are
Kyra Bauer,
Lily Hospers and
Jamesha Wade.
Ashley Viera is three three-point attempts away from surpassing Kelly Beckler's (2002-04) total of 309 for sixth on the program's career list.
Leading TAMIU is Jessica Prieto at 22.5 ppg and 51.5 percent field goal percentage. She has made 8-of-15 shots from beyond the arc and is averaging 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Keiona Mathews contributes 10.0 ppg and paces the Dustdevils with 7.0 rpg and 3.5 apg. Ashley Perry has blocked a team best three shots and adds 8.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg.
