KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team returns home to Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court this weekend for two Lone Star Conference matches. Friday sees the Javelinas take on Texas Woman's at 7 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. contest against Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
Entering the weekend, the Blue and Gold are on a four-match winning streak, 17-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The Lions are 14-9 this year, 6-5 in the LSC and the Pioneers have a 19-5 mark on the season and 8-3 in league action.

Scouting Texas A&M-KingsvilleKrystal Faison surpassed the 300-kill plateau at Texas A&M International and leads the team with 308. Second with 296 kills is

Sophomore
Casey Klobedans has 1,006 assists on the year and is averaging 10.16 per set. She became only the second TAMUK player ever with multiple 1,000-assist seasons, joining Bianca Valenciano who reached the accomplishment in 1997 and 1998. The Boerne, Texas native has recorded 126 kills with a team-high .290 attack percentage as well.
Defensively,
Brett Zaccardo increased her digs per set average to 5.04 after recording 25 in four sets Wednesday against the Dustdevils. She has 499 for the season, needing one more to become the first Javelina ever with multiple 500-dig campaigns.
Haley Hutchinson goes into the two matches with 97 blocks this season, 21 of which have been made by her alone. Adding 73 rejections is
Madison Brabham while Bukowski (50) and Klobedans (57) have at least 50 blocks apiece.
Scouting Texas Woman'sMakayla Mayfield leads TWU with 228 kills, 2.89 k/s and 27 aces. Hillary Shaffer is right behind her with 225 kills and is second in the league with a .336 attack percentage. Also with over 200 kills is Sara Oxford at 207. Joey Redwine, this week's LSC Setter of the Week honoree, has totaled 796 assists for an average of 9.95 a set.
Defensively, Shaffer has 86 blocks and is third in the conference with 1.05 b/s. Second for the Pioneers is Oxford with 76 rejections and 0.93 b/s. Three players are averaging over three digs a set led by 3.72 from Mallory Kuechle. Torie Talkington is second with 3.59 d/s, followed by 3.39 courtesy of Mayfield.
TWU extended their all-time series lead to 35-7 after sweeping the first meeting this year on Sept. 25. In Kingsville, the Javelinas are 2-12 against the Pioneers. Their first win came on Sept. 26, 1996 and the second was last year on Sept. 27.
Scouting Texas A&M-CommerceTaryn Driver enters Saturday's match with a team best 238 kills and 2.87 k/s. Summer Alford (156), Veronika Baric (150) and Layne Little (158) all have at least 150 kills on the campaign. Pacing the squad with a .281 hitting percentage is Sydney Reyes. Setter Courtney Tate is averaging 9.85 a/s with 847 total assists.
Coming in with 354 digs for 4.12 digs a set is Ashley Mireles. The Lions have 143.5 blocks this year with nearly half (70) coming from Jaslyn Wacker. Next on the squad are Driver and Reyes with 44 and 43 rejections, respectively.
A&M-C holds a 27-12 lead all-time against TAMUK. The first time the teams played this season, the Javelinas came back down two sets to none to force a decisive fifth set but fell just short. The Blue and Gold are 5-10 all-time when playing the Lions at home.
School 4-Set Attack RecordFaison set a new school record at Texas A&M International for attacks in a four-set match. She had 53 in the contest to break the previous mark of 51 held by Shaday Smith since Oct. 16, 2004 that was set at West Texas A&M.
LSC Tournament BoundWith wins at Cameron and Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville clinched a spot in the LSC Tournament for the fifth consecutive year. The Javelinas are currently in fourth place in the standings, half a game ahead of Texas A&M-Commerce. Ahead of TAMUK is Angelo State (+2), Tarleton State (+3) and Texas Woman's (+1.5).
Assists ChaseKlobedans enters Wednesday's match with 2,177 career assists, the sixth most in school history. Against St. Edward's on the Javelinas' annual Dig Pink night, she surpassed
Sarah Fountain's (2011-14) career total of 2,042. Just ahead of Klobedans is Kirby Krueger (2006-09) with 2,210 assists.
Career DigsZaccardo cracked the Javelinas' top 10 career list in digs and currently has 1,054 in only her second collegiate season. The sophomore moved past Nikki Dixon (1999-02) for ninth in school history at Cameron. Zaccardo is also the ninth Blue and Gold player to post 1,000 career digs.
Next on the list is current student assistant coach and former TAMUK standout
Kelsey Washington at 1,150 digs. Kim Martinez (1996-99) holds the TAMUK career record with 2,009.
Double-DoublesJavelinas have totaled 39 double-doubles between four players. Faison leads the team with 15, followed by 13 courtesy of Klobedans and nine from Bukowski. Adding two double-doubles is Moehrig that came in back-to-back matches at home against Angelo State and Tarleton State.
