Game 13: Road Swing Begins at Tarleton State for @TAMUKWBB

Tip is set for 5 p.m. with live stats and video available

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Following a three-game homestand to begin the 2015 portion of the schedule, which included the first two Lone Star Conference games of the year, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team (0-12, 0-2 LSC) starts a two-contest road trip on Saturday. They will take on Tarleton State (7-3, 1-1 LSC) at 5 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.

The TexAnns have a 21-18 advantage in the all-time series and have won nine straight. Last time the Javelinas came away with a victory was January 30, 2010 at home, 63-62. They have not won in Stephenville since January 14, 2009.

Leading the team at 10.9 ppg and with a 44.5 field goal percentage is Micah Weaver, who saw her double-digit scoring streak come to an end at four games on Thursday. She is grabbing 5.1 rpg and dishing out 1.3 apg as well.

Lauren Jay paces the squad in rebounding (6.1) and contributes 8.3 ppg. In the past two games, she has had two blocks and steals in each contest.

Dishing out 2.3 apg and getting 1.2 spg, both the most on the team, is Tessa Ramirez.

As a team, the Blue and Gold are averaging 52.8 ppg and making 33.5 percent from the field, 25.8 percent of their three-point attempts and 64.3 percent at the free throw line. They grab 39.4 rpg and hand out 10.7 apg but their Achilles heel is keeping turnovers, which they commit 22.0 a contest.

Coming off a 10-point win Wednesday night at Angelo State, TSU will be playing their first home LSC game of the season. They are 3-1 this year at Wisdom Gym with victories over Arlington Baptist, Southern Arkansas and Texas Wesleyan.

Kathy Thomas is scoring a team-high 12.9 ppg with a team best 18 three-pointers. Ikpeaku Iwobi is the only other TexAnn in double-figures at 11.6 ppg. She paces the squad with 7.2 rpg and has made 28-of-32 at the charity stripe.

Both Raven McGrath and Meagan O'Dell are threats from beyond the arc, having made 16 treys each. McGrath is the most dangerous with a 48.5 percent mark on three-point shots.

Morgan Ashmore enters with a team-high 3.4 apg while McGrath and Moore are tied for second with 2.3 apg.

TSU has scored 69.2 ppg with a 41.6 field goal percentage and are making 77.3 percent at the charity stripe, the highest in the conference. They have a +1.6 advantage on the boards while coming down with 37.7 a contest. So far in their four home games, the TexAnns are averaging a LSC leading 1,640 fans.
