Box Score 2 WINTER PARK, Florida – The Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's volleyball team split on the final day of competition in Winter Park, Florida at the Rollins Invitational. The Javelinas fell to host Rollins College, 0-3, and defeated the University of North Carolina-Pembroke, 3-1.
The Javelinas (3-1) fell 22-25,15-25, and 20-25 to Lady Tars in the first game of the day. In the second match, Kingsville rolled 20-25, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-23.
Against the Rollins, Kingsville hit .216 in the match. The Lady Tars, meanwhile, hit .346. The Javelinas flipped that part of the script against North Carolina-Pembroke. The Javelinas hit .298 in the second match. They limited their foe to just .174.
Ashley Bukowski led the Javelinas with 16 kills in the win hitting .467. Freshman
Krystal Faison added a career-best 13 kills. Faison also led the Javelinas with 11 kills versus Rollins.
Casey Klobedans had 23 assists in the opening match and 48 in the win. Kingsville had four aces in the win. Klobedans had two of those aces while
Karly Huebel and
Brett Zaccardo each had one.
Bukowski was the lone Javelina to be awarded an all-tournament honor. Over the duration of the tournament, she had 48 kills, three service aces, 10 digs and nine blocks.
The Javelina women return to Kingsville for their home opener, the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational on Sept. 12-13.
