@TAMUKVball defeats Southern Arkansas, St. Cloud St. in Rollins Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER PARK, Florida (Volleyball)- Coach Tanya Allen and the Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's volleyball team competed in the Rollins Invitational and won both of their matches in the opening day. The Javelinas defeated Southern Arkansas, 3-0, and St. Cloud State, 3-2.

In the opening match against the Lady Muleriders, Kingsville dominated 25-20, 25-18, and 25-20. Sophomore Ashley Bukowski had a team-high 11 kills, while Kelsey Washington and Stephanie Johns had 9, respectively.
Defenisvely, the Javelina women had 28 digs led by Brett Zaccardo with 13 digs and Krystal Faison with 6. For Southern Arkansas, Hanna Rice led with 8 digs and Hailey McNee led with 12 kills.

Kingsville controlled all three sets limiting their errors and striking hard against the Lady Muleriders. In set one, the Javelinas took control of the match when the teams were knotted at 15. The turning point came when Johns landed a kill from a Sarah Fountain assist. Set two produced a similar moment when Bukowski received her first service ace as a Javelina for the team to take the lead, 16-15. Kingsville led for most of the third set after Bukowski killed an assist from Casey Klobedans, 8-7.

In their second match of the day, Kingsville overwhelmed the Huskies in five sets with scores of 17-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-13. The Javelinas trailed much of the first set that was stymied by seven errors. Kingsville battled back in the second set with a 5-1 run to open when Ashley Tipps, Krystal Faison and Bukowski accounted for two blocks. St. Cloud State committed 14 errors in the second set alone.  In the decisive fifth set the sides were tied at 13 before Washington scored the two winning points for Kingsville.

Faison led the Javelinas with 16 kills, Klobedans had 28 assists, and Zaccardo had 23 digs. Tipps was the top blocker for Kingsville with 10 blocks in this match.
Day two of competition for the Javelinas begins with the host Rollins College at 11 a.m. and continues with the University of North Carolina-Pembroke at 3 p.m.
