ABILENE, Texas (Football) – In perhaps its final visit to Abilene, Texas in the foreseeable future, Texas A&M University-Kingsville (1-2, 0-1 LSC) looks to defeat McMurry University (1-1, 0-1 LSC) for the eighth consecutive time on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at Wilford Moore Stadium.
Â
The contest will be the only Lone Star Conference matchup between the two programs as the War Hawks announced its intention to move to NCAA Division III at season's end. The Javelinas have dominated the all-time series with a 12-6-1 record, but TAMUK is 3-3-1 against McMurry in Abilene.
Â
In its first meeting versus McMurry since 1971, Texas A&M-Kingsville ran for 529 yards en route to a 52-32 victory last season.Â
Greg Pitre led the Javelina offense with 10 carries for 180 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Â
The Javelinas are coming off a 55-20 loss to A&M-Commerce (2-1, 1-0 LSC) in the Lone Star Conference Football Festival opener at AT&T Stadium. The War Hawks fell to Angelo State (2-0, 1-0 LSC) 45-14 in its first ever LSC game.
Â
Kingsville will have a new look as redshirt sophomore
Alex Rios will receive the start at quarterback. Rios began the 2013 campaign as the signal caller for the Javelinas and TAMUK went 2-0 in his two starts before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Rios went 9-of-13 and threw for one touchdown in the fourth quarter against A&M-Commerce last week.
Â
Led by first year head coach Lance Hinson, McMurry kicked off the season with a 26-17 victory over FCS program Houston Baptist on Sept. 6. Hinson spent nine seasons at the helm of St. Mary's College in Kansas, going 36-54.

Coach to Cure MDFor the sixth year in a row, college football coaches nationwide will join together in support of the Coach to Cure MD program, which will be held during games of
Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014.Â
The rapidly growing annual effort has raised more than a million dollars to battle Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Â
On Sept. 27
th, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) members will wear a Coach to Cure MD logo patch on the sidelines and college football fans will be asked to donate to research projects supported by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest nonprofit organization in the U.S. focused entirely on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. More than 60 of those games will recognize a local Duchenne family on the field before or during the game.
Â
Football fans can donate to Duchenne muscular dystrophy research by either going online to www.CoachtoCureMD.org or by texting the word CURE to 90999 (a $5 donation will automatically be added to your next phone bill).
Â
Last year, more than 10,000 college coaches at more than 600 different institutions participated in Coach to Cure MD events. Both those figures are higher than in any of the program's first six years (2008-13). The five-year fundraising total is just over $1 million.
Â
The Coach to Cure MD logo patches the coaches will wear on the sideline are provided by Windswept Marketing, a company with a 50 year heritage in the embroidered emblem and advertising specialty industry. Windswept specializes in helping companies and organizations create custom branding solutions for their corporate branding needs.
