@TAMUKVball Splits on Last Day of Emerald Beach Javelina Volleyball Invitational

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Volleyball) – The Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's volleyball team split on the final day of competition as the team hosted the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational. The Javelinas defeated Adelphi University, 3-1, and fell to Lone Star Conference rival West Texas A&M, 1-3.

Kingsville (6-1, 1-1) defeated the Lady Panters, 25-17, 16-25, 25-16, and 25-18 in the first game of the day. In the second match, Kingsville fell 14-25, 25-17, 12-25 and 21-25 to the Lady Buffs.

Against Adelphi (0-9), Kingsville hit .268 in the match. The Lady Panthers, meanwhile, hit .176. The Javelinas went in reverse against West Texas A&M (6-2, 1-0). The Javelinas hit .143 in the second match. The Lady Buffs finished with a hitting percentage of .213.
Ashley Bukowski, Stephanie Johns, and Kelsey Washington each had 11 kills to lead the Javelinas. Freshman Krystal Faison was second for the team with 10 kills. Ashley Tipps had six blocks versus Adelphi.

Casey Klobedans had 36 assists against the Lady Panthers. Kingsville had four aces in the win. Faison had two of those aces while Karly Huebel and Ashley Bukowski each had one.

In the second match of the day, Ashley Tipps led the Hoggies with 10 kills and three blocks. Anyssa Matheson and Bukowski were second in kills with eight.

The Javelina women remain at home for their match against St. Mary's on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Steinke Physical Education Center on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
